Android OS Trivia
By now you know that the Android OS is being used by cellular phone developers of just about every stripe. You've probably already heard that the "Google phone" is giving other smart phones a run for popularity. It is definitely true that the Google phones are getting to be more popular every day. This is probably because the phones being released now are modeled after the smart phones that have become popular. Google has been paying attention to what the population wants and is trying very hard to give it what it wants. Here are some fun facts about phones that run the Android OS that you might not already know.
One website says that Google is not actually the original creator of the Android OS. We are well aware of the fact that most people credit Google with this. In fact many people simply call them "Google phones" when they are checking them out. From what we could find out, the actual creators of the Android OS are Rich Miner and Andy Rubin. It was actually invented in 2003 by these guys who then sold it to Google for a tidy profit. After they bought the OS, Google sat on it for a few years while they developed it further and got it ready to be sent out in mobile devices.
The Android OS is actually based on the Linux system. Linux is an open source operating system that people use instead of Windows or Mac operating systems. There are lots of rumors to sort through about why Google wanted the OS so much. Google has a widely publicized and popular rivalry with Microsoft. Is it so surprising, then, that Google would be so excited to buy a system that would compete well against Windows and Microsoft? People like Linux because its open source standing means that everyone is welcome to develop the system, upgrade it and find new uses for it. This allows the company to keep their costs low and their profits sky high.
The major benefit to using an Android phone instead of an iPhone is that the Android phone allows multi-tasking and lets users use more than one app at a time. The iPhone can operate all of its base features at one time: phone calls, music, internet and one of your apps. That is pretty much the extent of its multi-tasking. The Android phones, however, can run multiple apps with no problems at all.
You can probably think of many reasons to choose the Android phone over the other smart phones that are available. Simply put: the Android OS is great! We don't say that just because we are fans of the OS, we say it because it is true! Updates to the Android system are released all the time and, because the system is based on open source, anybody can develop applications and upgrades for it. It won't be long before the Android phones are just as popular as their smart phone competitors. Pretty soon, Google phones will be at least as popular (if not more so) than other smart phones that are being sold.
